Terms and Conditions: Certified SMART Trained Installer Programme

  1. Certification Validity

Certification is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. A refresher course—covering product updates and changes—must be completed annually to maintain certification. A grace period of 3 months is allowed post-expiry. Failure to complete the refresher within this period will result in temporary suspension of the installer’s certification number and removal from the website until compliance is restored.

  1. Qualifying Products

Certification training applies exclusively to Centurion SMART products and compatible accessories.

  1. Certificate Allocation

Certification is issued to individuals, not companies. Each certified installer receives a unique number. Companies cannot hold a blanket certification for all employees.

  1. Registered Companies

Companies that have verified Certified Trained SMART Installers and are registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) may be listed on the Installer Locator website upon verification. Sole proprietors and individuals may also participate and will be listed accordingly. They must provide:

  • Proof of tax registration or submit to a criminal background check.
  • Valid identification and proof of address.

If an individual is found to be misrepresenting their employment status (e.g., registering as a business while employed by another certified company), their certification may be revoked following consultation. Final decisions rest with Centurion Systems (Pty) Ltd.

  1. Minimum Requirements

Installers must:

  • Attend all required training modules.
  • Achieve a minimum 80% pass rate on assessments.
  • Upload photographic evidence of three completed installations, showing wiring, placement, rack, wheels, and workmanship.
  • Submit identification, CIPC registration (if applicable), and proof of address.

Installers must use their own device (smartphone, tablet, or laptop) to access assessments and register on the Centurion Systems database.

  1. Training Modules

Two modules are required:

  • Module 1: Sliding gate systems.
  • Module 2: Swing and garage door systems.

Each module requires a full day (8 hours), including assessment time. Content and duration may change with prior notice.

  1. Completion of Certification

Certification is granted only upon:

  • Completion of all modules.
  • Achieve 80% pass mark on ALL assessments.
  • Acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  • Submission and approval of required documentation.
  1. Complaints and Re-Certification

Complaints must be submitted via the official website link and will be assigned a unique reference number.

  • Two complaints within 3 months: Installer must repeat training.
  • Three complaints against a company within 3 months: All certified employees must repeat training.

Site visits will be conducted. Failure to cooperate will result in the complaint being marked valid. Minor faults may be rectified immediately at the installer’s expense. Excessive complaints may trigger mandatory refresher training.

False complaints will result in immediate suspension and permanent exclusion from the programme.

  1. Quality Assessment

Installers must make at least two sites per year available for quality inspection. Centurion Systems may conduct additional visits at its discretion. All commissioned sites must include the installer’s certification number during setup.

  1. Branding

Use of the “Certified” branding must comply with the following:

  • No competitor branding may appear on the same item (e.g., shirt, vehicle side).
  • Only the term “Certified” may be used—“Accredited” is prohibited.
  • Companies using the logo must have at least 80% of installation staff certified.
  1. Website Listings

The website is operated by Centurion Systems. Listings include:

  • Company name and contact details (if certified staff are present).
  • Names of certified installers under each company (no personal contact details).

If a company loses all certified staff, its listing will be removed until certification is restored.

  1. Amendments

Centurion Systems may amend these terms at any time. Changes will be communicated clearly and will apply to future agreements. It is the responsibility of installers and companies to stay informed.

  1. Breach and Termination

Any breach of these terms may result in termination of certification and removal from the programme, database, and website. This may occur without prior notice and at Centurion Systems’ sole discretion.
