But first, a little history on how we got to where we are today, why are the are the trusted name in gate automation not just here in South Africa, but in many parts of the world, and what that means for you.
As the old adage goes, necessity is the mother of invention, and, by the time the 1980s rolled around, societal needs were changing at a whirlwind pace as South Africans abandoned the laissez faire attitude toward personal safety and security that had reigned up that point, and the subject of rising crime rates entered the public dialogue. An urgent intervention was needed to stem the tide of crime that was decimating communities countrywide.
Exactly such an intervention came, not from the high-tech development labs of Silicon Valley, but from a modest garden shed in the Johannesburg suburb of Bryanston where one visionary engineer was busy developing a security solution that would go on to become one of the most important technological innovations to come out of South Africa.
It was a request from his father that motivated CENTURION founder Pat Dickens to design and develop his very first gate controller, using his solid background in electronics and love for manufacturing to deliver the blueprint for his vision of making lives easier through the power of technology.
Pat can be credited with introducing the country to the incredible security and convenience afforded by gate motors and so became a pioneer in his own right, always staying true to his original goal of creating products that not only move gates, but move people to experience true peace of mind.
